Formerly the capital of the nation of Pasun and the seat of the Exemplars, Dawngate was once the most beautiful and enlightened city on the continent. It is an ancient and finely crafted city that many believe was magically carved by Mygalun, wizard of the Exemplars, out of the Morningpeak, the mountain in which it now rests. The city’s main gate faces west, and the eastern wall overlooks the sea, so the sun rises directly over it. In addition to giving Dawngate its name, the fact that it is the first land to be touched by the sun makes it a holy place to many continental religions.
However, Dawngate was destroyed in the initial offensive of the Orcish Wars, when the orcs attacked without warning from within the city. To this day, it stands desolate and uninhabited as the corrupt wilderness of the Sun Fields encroaches upon the ruins. Many have tried to reach Dawngate since the Orcish Wars, but none have returned with reliable information. Rumors abound of vengeful ghosts, orcish kings, demonic cults, powerful artifacts and everything else imaginable…but whatever is truly inside Dawngate’s walls remains a mystery.
